We first came across this amazing company early this year via some awesome work done by our Hip Daddy Seth Farbman from GAP.  It was a video from the #WomenInspire campaign, and you should really watch it.

In the spirit of the holidays and helping those in need, The Empowerment Plan is a Hip Daddy Must Know.  This Detroit-based non profit organization dedicated to serving the homeless community…which Detroit has a lot of.  In a nutshell, they make a warm coat that transforms into a warm sleeping bag. which is then given out to homeless people living on the streets at no cost to them.  How amazing is this?  Well, it gets better and smarter.  Guess who makes the actual product?  The Empowerment Plan mostly hires homeless parents from local shelters to become full time seamstresses.   So not only are they creating jobs for the homeless, they are creating a product that is useful to them…in their words, “We believe in giving second chances to those who want it, and providing warmth to those who need it. ”  Veronika Scott is the Founder of this non profit beauty, and she absolutely deserves a Hip Daddy “Well Done, Veronika!”
