Summer workouts need to be efficient and hard. That said, we typically leave the indoor workouts for the colder months and try and get outside as much as possible with some running or swimming or SUP (or beach wiffle ball…LOL). But at some point, you got to get back into a gym or studio to really see some results. We know Barry’s, Soul, Fly, etc but let’s talk about another boutique fitness class that is gaining more and more buzz…Orangetheory Fitness.
First off, the name is weird, the branding is bad, and the website is pretty busy and not too inspiring. Not a great start. But that’s just our marketing hat being hard. The actual end product itself seems to be intriguing and obviously so as more and more people are joining the Orange movement.
What is it? Orangetheory Fitness “uses the science of Heart-Rate Based Treadmill Interval Training, the efficiency of Indoor Rowing for increased power and the proven concept of Weight Training Blocks to create the fitness level and body you have always desired,” so rowing, running and weights…check the box. We can handle this, Barry’s and then some. But the game changer? It’s all based on your heart rate and something they call the “Orange Effect”: Backed by the science of post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), our heart-rate monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. The result is the Orange Effect – more energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours after your workout!” Now we can see why so many people are liking this one. And any type of creative Group Fitness concept like Orangetheory is always Hip Daddy Approved…it makes you #werk hard and easily inspired.
We think this “Orange Effect” would look goooood on every Hip Daddy so…give them a search. Locations are opening quite fast so one will likely be coming your way soon, if not already. And once they re-visit their overall branding and messaging (and website design/functionality), then we can really start drinking the orange juice 🙂 It’s Summer, get healthy and start sweatin’.
