Snow Pants. You Need Them.

The #StormoftheCentury is apparently coming.  Which means snow and more snow.  Which means school is likely cancelled.  Which means sledding, snowball fights, snowmen building, igloo carving and all sorts of outdoor related activities are on the near horizon.  Which means every Hip Daddy needs to be properly prepared.  Which means, first and foremost, snow pants!  And given we trust all the kids already have their snow pants, this feature is all about the Hip Daddy Snow Pant…

Today, the once simple snow pant, can now be called a skiing pant, a snowboarding pant, an alpine climbing pant, and so on….lots of categories and terms…but at the end of the day, they are all pants that can be used in the snow.  We need function…less about fashion as these things will be put to work! We need dryness, waterproof your legs and behind as we all know how it feels when snow gets in…#notpleasant.   We need sturdy material that can stretch and bend and get abused basically. We need fit.  Oversized won’t work, and undersized (too tight) will likely end up bad.

So let’s get started…yes, there are tons of options out there.  From really expensive to affordable, the world of snow pants is plentiful.  But let’s keep it short and sweet and Hip Daddy relevant!  The North Face is a great brand straight outta Alameda, CA which has been making cold weather gear for decades.  We like this pair a lot and something about the name “Thermoball” which gets us feeling warm and comfy.  And then there is the lovely brand from Ventura, Patagonia (which we have covered before)…they make a very basic but all-purpose type pant which we are liking too given it will keep us dry this winter but also on a rainy Spring or Summer day too…hello universality!  And lastly, you can never go wrong with our friends from Burlington, VT…Burton makes all sorts of amazing gear and equipment for snow lovers worldwide.  Although expensive, this GORE-TEX Walden Snowboard Pant is kind of badass, and will leave any and all kids listening to you on that crowded sledding hill #justsayin.  Three and out…that’s how we roll.

The flurries are always starting.  The snow is coming.  Keep dry.  Keep warm.  Be happy.  Get some snow pants.  Enjoy the blizzard.
