Tell us about your kids, what’s it like being a father?
I have two little ones, a daughter Verveine and a son Luca. They are beyond amazing. The funnest, most interesting, and unpredictable things in my life. Fatherhood is pure joy.
Talk to us about your parenting style?
Our kids go to a Montessori school so we like to practice a lot of their principles. The kids are taught to think on their own but within a structured environment. They’re given responsibility, but encouraged to be creative and have fun.
What do you do for fun with the kids?
Celine and I like to take the kids wherever we go. Whether that’s to the restaurant or traveling abroad with us, they’re very adventurous! They love coming to my restaurant Coppa in Boston (which I co-own with Jamie Bissonnette) and making pizzas there. They’ll sit at the sushi bar at Uni, and when they come with me to NYC you can find them running around at Toro NY. We make sure to keep them involved in our activities and always making time for them to run around at the park, ride their scooters and travel everywhere with us. They were just in Paris with us, they’ve been in Istanbul and Spain.
What is the one thing you can’t live without as a Dad?
My wife Celine!
What’s your favorite ‘kid-friendly’ restaurant in Boston?
I would have to say Coppa. How many kids do you know that don’t like pizza and pasta? But my kids also love the crazy stuff—from the uni carbonara to the whey braised lamb, they’ll try it all.
Do you have any favorite specific kids dishes you cook at home?
They love meatballs, toast soldiers, chilaquiles with scrambled eggs, and best of all, they both love oysters on the half shell.
