We sat down with the Founder and CEO of the YOOX Group, an Italian based e-commmerce fashion retailer of multibrand clothing and accessories that serves more than 100 countries worldwide.
Tell us about your kids. What’s it like being a father?
I have one daughter, Margherita who is almost three. She’s a strong character, very much like me in many respects. I’m constantly amazed at her curiosity and powers of observation. She doesn’t forget a thing!
Talk to us about your fashion sense for your child.
I have no say! She already knows what she wants and likes. Usually pink dresses and sparkly shoes! She likes color, bold patterns, and florals. In the summer it’s hard to coax her out of her swimsuit and rubber Nemo shoes.
Favorite piece of clothing you wear with them or dress them in?
Margherita loves wearing pyjamas as much as I do. When I get home from work it’s the first thing I do – change into them. We struggle to get her out of her pajamas at the weekend. She likes to be comfortable too – nothing tight or constricting (I’m the same!) She has a pair of pajamas printed with ghosts, pumpkins and vampires that we bought together around Halloween time that have great memories, and also an amazing bright orange Kenzo raincoat with matching sou’wester hat that I found on yoox.com. We put them on with wellingtons and hit the puddles!
What do you do for fun with your kids?
Eat ice cream! We’re lucky enough to rent a place by Lake Como and so spending time there is so much fun whether it’s feeding the ducks, throwing stones into the lake, going for a picnic, or reading Mickey Mouse comics together after a Sunday lunch at the local trattoria.
What’s the one thing you can’t live without as a Dad.
Her photo when I’m travelling and needless to say all those applications I used to avoid and now rely on like Facetime and Skype.
Tell us about your child’s room and her art collection.
My partner and I had the idea to start her collection for her first birthday. Every year the idea is to buy her a special piece so when she reaches her eighteen birthdays she’ll have some great artworks that will hopefully have some wonderful memories attached too!
