Barbour: The ‘Unofficial Coat of May’ Which We All Need.

Whether it be a Burberry or a Barbour, the Brits do it right when it comes to jackets and outerwear.  Plain and simple.   The weather in New England in May means anything can be expected…it could be 70 and sunny one day, then flurries the next.  Lovely isn’t it?  For this reason alone, you need a jacket that can play across all that mother nature throws at you.  Barbour is here to help the cause.

Barbour.  A British brand to the core, “Founded in 1894 by John Barbour, in South Shields in the North East of England, the company supplied oilskins and other garments to protect the growing community of sailors, fishermen and dockers. Since then, Barbour has continued to thrive on the unique values of the British countryside, and offers a full range of wardrobe essentials and this year marks the 120th anniversary.”  There you have it…great heritage, great product.

We love their medium to light weight vests (especially the Lowerdale Quilted Gilet), and the Barbour International line which is inspired by motorcycle culture is very cool too….both of course are a Hip Daddy Can’t Miss! And last but not least, the Childrens collection is awesome, and any and all Hip Daddy children should be rockin’ at least one Barbour in the closet…adorable designs ready for any playground or day at school.

For you New Englanders, Barbour can be found at most Orvis locations, and of course has a beautiful store on Newbury St.  So stop looking at the weather report with hopeful eyes, accept it is May and that means it’s time for a Barbour.
