Tell us about your kids, what’s it like being a father?
I have 3 kids: my son Lucas (15) and 2 daughters, Lili (9) and Calla (7). Being a dad is awesome! I see pieces of me in all of them, yet they’re all so unique at the same time. Lucas has a different mom from the girls, and I’m also divorced, so weekends are like a giant 3 day sleepover party for all of us. And luckily I have great relationships with both moms so if I want to hang with the kids during the week it’s fine too.
Talk to us about your parenting style?
I’m pretty laid back. I allow them to make choices that are age appropriate so they can learn to think for themselves and learn from their decisions. But like I said, I try to keep it age appropriate, so Calla is more in the choosing what she can wear phase whereas Lucas’ decisions are obviously more complex. I will listen and advise them on everything but I’m also very honest, so if I don’t have an answer to something I’m not afraid to say “I don’t know” and work with them to find an answer to their question.
What do you do for fun with the kids?
Luckily, I’ve never completely grown up so pretty much everything. Movies, arcades, zoos, the circus, kids shows, video games, etc. It all still entertains me. And right now my daughters are in the comic book phase which I absolutely LOVE since I was kind of a comic geek as a kid. I’ll be sad when they grow out of it.
Favorite piece of clothing you wear with them or favorite piece of clothing you dress them in?
That’s one of the things that they’re pretty much allowed complete freedom with, clothes. And it’s hilarious because Calla, my youngest, has the most creative style! She’s always loved picking out her own clothes and she’s actually very trendy with her style. Well, either that or I’m very immature with my fashion choices, haha!
What is the one thing you can’t live without as a Dad?
My IPhone/IPad. Like I said I’m not afraid to say “I don’t know” to questions, so we end up doing a lot of online research for things.
Any favorite tracks you and the kids listen to?
At the present moment, the “Frozen” soundtrack. Which I don’t mind at all. I love that movie.
